　　谷宝玉，号花翁，百花轩主，一九三九年农历正月二十八日出生于青岛市。艺术大师李苦禅、王雪涛先生的入室弟子。现任联合国教科文卫组织官员、世界艺术家联合会艺术总监、IBC英国剑桥大学国际名人传记中心顾问、文化部艺术委员会常委、中国文学艺术家联合会副主席、中国美术家协会名誉主席、青岛中国画研究院院长、中国海洋大学教授，国家一级画家。

　　宝玉的画笔墨浑厚，苍老古拙，章法离奇，情趣感人，而且诗词、书法、篆刻俱佳，形成四位一体具有鲜明的独特艺术风格，颇得李苦禅、潘天寿、王雪涛、李可染、董寿平、吴作人、王朝闻、崔子范、谢稚柳、唐云、黎雄才、关山岳等诸大师的高度评价和赞扬。

　　宝玉的画曾在北京、上海、广东、辽宁、河北、浙江、新疆、宁夏、山东、以及香港、日本、韩国、英国、美国、卢森堡、奥地利、新西兰、澳大利亚等省市地区和国家举办个人画展和联展;新华社、人民日报、光明日报、中国画报以及中央、山东、四川、广东、河北、江苏等百余家电视台及报刊新闻媒体宣传他的艺术专题和评论，颇得同道和广大人民群众的好评。其作品数十次参加国内外重大展览并数次获得金奖，被文化部评为“二十一世纪德艺双馨功勋艺术家”2008年被联合国授予“世界金星艺术家”的光荣称号，2011年3月被中国文联授予“中国画艺术大师”7月被文化部授予“共和国脊梁”荣誉称号。是国家重点画家。曾应邀为国务院、中南海、人民大会堂等接待厅绘制巨幅画，其作品《远处幽香》、《远瞻》分别被江泽民作为国家重要礼品赠送给美国前总统克林顿和日本首相迟田大佐等。

　　出版有《谷宝玉画册》、《谷宝玉画集》、《谷宝玉诗书画印选集》、《中国花鸟画技法》、《范曾·谷宝玉合集》荣宝斋出版、《方增先·谷宝玉合集》上海朵云轩出版、《范曾·谷宝玉·刘大为合集》中央美术学院出版，《喻继高·谷宝玉·刘大为·冯大中合集》杭州西泠印社出版等百余种画集。他的成绩被编入(二十世纪中国美术全集)、《中国美术家年鉴》、《中国国画家大辞典》、《中国书法篆刻家大辞典》、《中国国学家大辞典》、《中国画家典藏》、《中国国家档案》、《世界名人录》美国版本、《国际名人录》英国版本、《中日韩书画名人录》中、日、韩版本、《世界著名画家博览》法国版本,《大不列颠世界艺术家百科全书》英文版等。2014年谷宝玉与唐国强、刘洋、刘翔、刘大为、范曾等人被国家评为“感动中国的十大人物”。

　　Gu Baoyu, also known as Huaweng and the owner of Baihua Pavilion, was born on the 28th day of the first lunar month in 1939 in Qingdao. Currently an official of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Health Organization, artistic director of the World Artists Federation, advisor to the International Biography Center of the University of Cambridge at IBC, standing committee member of the Art Committee of the Ministry of Culture, vice chairman of the Chinese Literature and Artists Federation, honorary chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, president of the Qingdao Chinese Painting Research Institute, professor at Ocean University of China, and national first-class painter.

　　Baoyu's brushstrokes and ink are thick, old and clumsy, with bizarre and touching composition, and his poetry, calligraphy, and seal carving are all excellent, forming a unique artistic style that is highly praised and praised by masters such as Li Kuchan, Pan Tianshou, Wang Xuetao, Li Keran, Dong Shouping, Wu Zuoren, Wang Chaowen, Cui Zifan, Xie Zhiliu, Tang Yun, Li Xiongcai, Guan Shanyue, and others.

　　Baoyu's paintings have held individual and joint exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Liaoning, Hebei, Zhejiang, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Shandong, as well as provinces, cities, regions, and countries such as Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, Luxembourg, Austria, New Zealand, and Australia; Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, Guangming Daily, China Pictorial, as well as over a hundred television stations and newspapers and news media from central, Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Hebei, Jiangsu, etc., have promoted his artistic themes and comments, which have received praise from colleagues and the general public. His works have participated in major domestic and international exhibitions dozens of times and won gold awards several times. He was awarded the honorary title of "World Golden Star Artist" by the United Nations in 2008, and was awarded the title of "Master of Chinese Painting Art" by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles in March 2011. In July, he was awarded the honorary title of "Backbone of the Republic" by the Ministry of Culture. He is a national key painter. He was once invited to paint giant paintings for reception halls such as the State Council, Zhongnanhai, and the Great Hall of the People. His works "Fragrance in the Distance" and "Farsightedness" were respectively presented by Jiang Zemin as important national gifts to former US President Clinton and Japanese Prime Minister Colonel Chi Tian.

His achievements have been included in the collection of Chinese art in the 20th century, the Yearbook of Chinese Artists, the Dictionary of Chinese Painters, the Dictionary of Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Masters, the Dictionary of Chinese Nationalists, the Collection of Chinese Painters, the National Archives of China, the American version of the World Celebrity List, the British version of the International Celebrity List, the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean versions of the China Japan Korea Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity List, the French version of the World Famous Painters Expo, and the English version of the Encyclopedia of World Artists in Great Britain. In 2014, Gu Baoyu, along with Tang Guoqiang, Liu Yang, Liu Xiang, Liu Dawei, Fan Zeng, and others, were recognized by the government as one of the "Top Ten People Who Moved China".
